We feel fortunate to have the opportunity to improve our patients’ confidence and self-esteem by giving them beautiful smiles through high-quality orthodontic care. Orthodontics is not just our job, it’s our passion. Seeing our patients happy with their smiles is incredibly rewarding, and we are blessed to help them achieve all of their smile goals.

Dr. Eric Hannapel
Education
​
I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) at the University of Michigan in 1992 and completed a general practice residency at the University of Michigan Medical Center in 1993. I also attended the University of Michigan for my specialty education, completing my Master’s degree in Orthodontics in 1996. I started my orthodontic practice in 1996 and begins each day with my personal mission statement: to welcome staff and patients into my office with honesty, commitment, and a “do what it takes” attitude.
I believe that continuing to invest in the education of myself and my team allows us to serve our patient families in a very special way. I complete over 40 hours of continuing education each year to stay current with advances in my profession, including new technologies and research. I also work as an adjunct clinical assistant professor at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. I love sharing my knowledge and teaching the orthodontists of the future!

Outside the Office
I have lived my entire life in the Grand Rapids area and am proud to raise my family here while providing beautiful, healthy smiles in the community where I grew up. When I’m not creating smiles, I enjoy snow skiing, biking, wakeboarding, and wave surfing. I also love traveling with my wife, Dr. Beth, and our four children: Madison, Daniel, Aiden, and Caroline.
Dr. Sonni Pellillo
Education

I obtained a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Vanderbilt University in 2009. After that, I returned to my home state of West Virginia and earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS). I then completed a residency in South Florida at Nova Southeastern University, where I received my Master’s degree and a Certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. I practiced in Greenville, SC, for two and a half years before moving to West Michigan to join Hannapel Orthodontics in June 2018! Dr. Hannapel and I became partners in October 2020, and Hannapel Pellillo Orthodontics was born!

I believe in constantly striving to improve, which is why I continue to learn and grow by taking continuing education courses and attending local study clubs. I am also passionate about creating a welcoming environment where patients feel comfortable and empowered to achieve the smile of their dreams. My hope is that every patient leaves our office feeling more confident than when they arrived—and that they enjoy the process as much as the results!
Outside the Office
My husband, Brian Harris, a Michigan native, and I have two wonderful daughters, Reva and Celia, and two dogs. In our spare time, we love spending time on the lake, traveling, biking, hiking, wake-surfing, and volunteering at our church. We love living in West Michigan and enjoy being closer to friends and family.

Dr. Korey Searle
Education

I spent 11 years at the University of Michigan, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience, Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), and Master’s degree in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. After graduating, my wife and I moved back to West Michigan, where I’m originally from, to join Hannapel Pellillo Orthodontics in June 2025.
As for my approach to care, having undergone orthodontic treatment myself as a teenager, I understand the experience from both sides of the chair. This perspective drives my commitment to making every patient’s journey as comfortable and rewarding as possible. I believe every person deserves personalized attention and a treatment plan as unique as their smile. I also stay current through continuing education and training on advanced technologies, ensuring that each treatment is precise, efficient, and that every patient feels confident in their care and results.
Outside the Office
As a West Michigan native, I am proud to once again call Grand Rapids home for my wife, Anna, and our growing family. When I’m not creating smiles, you’ll find me exploring local hiking trails, playing tennis, or working out at the gym. I’m always up for an adventure—especially if it involves travel or tracking down the next great local ice cream spot!
